2022 World Music Contest to be streamed around the globe

Friday 14 January, 2022

The organisers of the 2022 World Music Contest in Kerkrade have announced that IBB Media Ltd is to act as livestreaming and recording partner for all indoor events during this year’s proceedings.

All contest weekends for brass band, concert band, fanfare band and percussion ensembles will be exclusively livestreamed by IBB Media, in addition to many of the prestigious midweek concerts from the town’s Roda Hall and theatre. All events will be available both as livestream and on demand catch-up.

Meanwhile, IBB Media will also be broadcasting daily from the WMC Village, bringing all the latest news and happenings from the major event.

A new platform is being developed by IBB Media exclusively for the WMC with a variety of subscription and ticketing options, from single event to full season tickets. Whilst the coverage of the showband, marching and marching parade events in the Parkstad Limburg Stadium will be recorded by a separate partner, coverage of stadium events will be streamed by IBB Media through the new platform.

Speaking on behalf of WMC, general manager Marcel Andriolo commented: “We are very pleased with the partnership between the World Music Contest and IBB Media Ltd. As an international wind music festival, we think it is important that our content – the live streams of the performances – is available for music fans everywhere. We believe that IBB Media has the experience and knowledge to help us take the next step in building an even stronger (online) community in the world of wind music.”

IBB Media Ltd managing director, Martin Gernon, spoke of his delight at being involved and told British Bandsman: “The WMC is iconic, one of the major music events in the world and we are honoured to have been chosen as partner. The next few months will see a great deal of planning and developmental work for the event to give a global audience a truly memorable viewing and sound experience, and we look forward to welcoming the world to celebrate this unique month of music making.”

The WMC takes place in Kerkrade, Netherlands, between July 7-31, 2022. More information is at the WMC website.
