London and Southern Counties ready for 2022 return

Tuesday 21 December, 2021

The finishing touches are being added to the 2022 London and Southern Counties Regional Championships, which are due to return following a COVID-enforced absence.

Plans are in place for a busy weekend of musical activities, after no London and Southern Counties Regional contests in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic. Taking place in Stevenage on March 19 and 20, 2022, the contests will welcome adjudicators David Ashworth, Brett Baker, Phil Littlemore, Stephen Roberts, Steve Sykes, Sheona Wade and Chris Wormald.

The Saturday will begin with the Second Section, followed by the First Section, with both taking place in the Gordon Craig Theatre.

The following day, proceedings will get under way with the Fourth Section in the Gordon Craig Theatre and the Third Section in the concert hall, with the Championship Section following in the theatre.

Kevin Williams, secretary of the London and Southern Counties Regional committee, said: “We are desperate for 2022 to go ahead after the acute disappointment of having to cancel both the 2020 and 2021 contests.

“We are hoping to receive another bumper entry in each section which should produce a great weekend of brass band competition in Stevenage.”
