Oldroyd returns to North Skelton

Thursday 18 November, 2021

Conductor Tim Oldroyd has been reunited with North Skelton Band after he was announced as the organisation’s new musical director.

One of the band’s most successful conductors, Tim’s previous tenures with the band include more than 20 top-three placings in the local North of England Regional competitions as well as national contests across a variety of sections.

Tim recently conducted the band as guest conductor for its very successful memorial concert for band member and friend, Jacqui Wilson.

A spokesperson for North Skelton Band said: “Tim not only brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience, but is also local to the band, living in the band’s historical home of Skelton Village.

“His support for local and worldwide brass players and bands is well known through his company Geneva, which began from humble beginnings in his garage in Skelton.

“As a band, we are excited to be able to work with Tim again in time for our upcoming Christmas engagements, and importantly on preparing for returning to contesting next year, where we will be performing Spectrum by Gilbert Vinter, in the North of England Brass Band Championships.”

The spokesperson added: “We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all applicants in the process. It is wonderful to know there is so much talent in the North East.”
