Wilby replaces Tovey at 2021 Brass Band Conference

Thursday 23 September, 2021

A late change of keynote speaker has been announced for the 2021 Brass Band Conference, following the news that conductor Bramwell Tovey is no longer able to appear. He is to be replaced by renowned composer, Philip Wilby.

The address forms part of the full day of activities, organised by Brass Bands England (BBE), which will take place on Saturday, September 25. It will be streamed on BrassPass.tv for viewers to enjoy, free to access.

Kenny Crookston, CEO of Brass Bands England, commented: “Although we are, of course, disappointed not to be joined by Bram on this occasion, travel during the pandemic has been unpredictable, and last-minute changes have meant that even delivering his address online would not have been possible.”

He continued: “We are delighted that Philip Wilby has been able to step in at the 11th hour and replace Bram, and we are looking forward to what we are sure will be an inspiring address on Saturday, when he will be delivering live from Sale.”

Register for the conference at the BBE website.
