Astley Unlimited receives cash boost

Tuesday 14 September, 2021

Members of Astley Unlimited Band have been left with a spring in their step after receiving a financial boost following their return to action.

The band was recently presented with a donation of £500 from Lancashire Mining Museum after staging a successful Beer and Brass Night at the unique location a few weeks ago. The performance was the first from the band since its COVID-enforced break and was sold out. Items on the set list included marches, hymns and pop music items, which all went down well with the enthusiastic audience.

A spokesperson for Astley Unlimited Band told British Bandsman: “After all this time, it was great to get back to performing for an audience. We are delighted to have received this kind donation, which is greatly appreciated by everyone at the organisation.”

Astley Unlimited Band comes under the umbrella of Astley Youth Band, which provides four ensembles for the local community: Astley Training Band, Astley Youth Band, Astley Unlimited Band and Astley Unlimited Choir. The organisation caters for all ages and levels of ability.
