Solo success for BlechKLANG youngsters

Tuesday 30 March, 2021

Three young brass performers from Germany’s KLANGwelt Orchestral School have celebrated after enjoying success in a prestigious national competition.

Teresa Fischer (tenor horn, pictured above), Johannes Stoll (cornet and soprano cornet) and Gustav Nitsche (trumpet) all came first in their respective categories and age groups in the initial round of the Jugend musiziert (Youth Makes Music) competition, which took place recently in a digital format.

Teresa and Johannes will now progress to the next round of the renowned music competition, which is due to take place in Bremen in May.

Alexander Richter, KLANGwelt teacher of the three participants and artistic director of the Competence Centre for Brass Band, said: “Through this nomination, the special timbres of the cornet and tenor horn, which are still rather exotic instruments for this classical competition, will also be present at the national level.

“I am glad and proud that we have repeatedly been able to make it clear that we can be counted on at any time – even under pandemic conditions.”
