Entries open for Mid Sussex solo showcase

Monday 29 March, 2021

Budding solo performers from far and wide are being invited to showcase their skills in a new competition, organised by the Mid Sussex Brass Band.

The online event is supporting the National Autistic Society and will see performers submit their video entries to be in with a chance of winning an impressive array of prizes, including tuition from the likes of Tom Hutchinson, Owen Farr, Mark Wilkinson, Richard Marshall and John Barber.

Entry is by donation, with a mimumum donation requested of £5 per entry. Categories exist for hymn, slow melody and air varie solo performances, with competitors allowed to submit a maximum of one performance for each. Accompaniments can be via keyboard or backing track. Multi-tracking is not allowed and all submissions must be recorded in a single take.

The contest will be adjudicated by Brett Baker, principal trombone of the Black Dyke Band, a Rath artist and general manager of the Geneva Group. His decision on all matters relating to the result is final.

The deadline for entering is at noon on April 26. More information is available at the competition website.
