Committee reshuffle in Leicestershire

Thursday 18 February, 2021

The Leicestershire Brass Band Association has welcomed a new secretary, following the decision of Lesley Bentley to step down after 15 years in the role.

Adam Whittle, above, has agreed to take over with immediate effect and has strong roots in the Midlands banding scene. An accomplished player and conductor, he has been musical director of the Rockingham Band for the past five years. Adam is a contest controller for the Butlin’s Mineworkers Championship and administrator of the Yorkshire and Humberside Association.

Lesley, who will continue involvement in the association, has stepped aside as secretary due to work and family commitments. She will also continue as secretary of the Hathern Band and the Midlands Regional committee.

Meanwhile, the LBBA confirmed that plans are proceeding for its band contest to proceed.

A spokesperson added: “Like most other events, the 2020 contest had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Watch this space for a future announcement but band secretaries are asked to save the date of November 21, when we hope to welcome bandspeople back to Loughborough.”
