2021 North American Championship cancelled

Sunday 10 January, 2021

There will be no North American Brass Band Championship in 2021 after the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Northern American Brass Band Association’s board of directors recently confirmed the news that the flagship competition, originally scheduled for April in the Embassy Theatre and Grand Wayne Centre, Ft Wayne, Indiana, would not take place. It is the second consecutive year that the contest has been cancelled because of the pandemic.

A spokesperson for the North American Brass Band Association said: “It was our hope that the pandemic would not last as long as it has, though recent trends make it clear that having the event in April will not be possible. It was our wish that bands have something to look forward to as they manoeuvre through these tough times and we hope that bands are able to stay safe and get back to banding as soon as possible. We will be looking forward to putting together the 2022 championship in Huntsville and hope to see everyone there.”
