Kirkintilloch stalwart marks seven decades

Tuesday 5 January, 2021

The Kirkintilloch Band has honoured stalwart, Peter Fraser MBE, who has celebrated 70 years of association with the East Dunbartonshire organisation.

Peter has served with Kirky as a player, manager and administrator. He is also an honorary vice-president of the Scottish Brass Band Association, having held various positions with the organisation as well as the European Brass Band Association.

John Needham, band manager of the Kirkintilloch Band, said: “Peter is the very definition of the word ‘stalwart’ with an incredible, unmatched loyalty and dedication to the band he loves.

“The Kirkintilloch Band owes its very existence to Peter. His selfless work over the years has sustained the band through good times and bad. He is a living legend and I’m sure I speak for everyone past and present in saying thank you, Peter.”

The band was delighted to present Peter with a special plaque to commemorate his 70 years, along with an exclusive, rare bottle of Peter’s favourite tipple, engraved whisky glasses and a hamper packed with Christmas goodies.

John added: “We look forward to the time when we can all get together again to properly celebrate Peter’s wonderful achievement.”
