Foden's winter training day success

Wednesday 30 December, 2020

Delegates from around the world have benefited from the expertise of Foden’s Band members during an intensive online training day.

Players from as far afield as Canada and Hong Kong were among the 50-strong field to take part in the day-long training event, which included classes on improvisation, composition, conducting and general practice and performance techniques. Sessions were led by Foden's principal players and its conducting team of Russell Gray and Michael Fowles.

Reflecting on the day, one participant commented: “Thank you for organising and hosting the event. As a North American brass band member, these sessions were well worth getting up early for.”

The recent workshop was made possible thanks to a funding award from Arts Council England, which will see Foden’s embark upon a three-year programme of musical and cultural events.

A spokesperson for Foden’s Band thanked delegates for taking part and reaffirmed the organisation’s gratitude to Arts Council England for its support. It is hoped similar events can be held in the future.
