Webinar to lift the lid on digital banding success

Thursday 22 October, 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic – and its ensuring restrictions – has made it more important than ever for bands to have a slick, engaging online presence. Following his band’s impressive showing at the recent Cory online championship, Downshire Brass musical director Michael Alcorn is to lead a webinar on producing impactful online productions.

The session, on October 27 at 7pm, is organised by Brass Bands England and will focus on tips and techniques aimed at maximising the quality of online video productions. The emphasis of the talk will be on low cost technologies.

Michael Alcorn is the musical director of Downshire Brass, one of the leading brass bands in Northern Ireland. He has worked with Downshire Brass since 2009 and has led it in contest performances and successes in Northern Ireland, Great Britain and in the Challenge Section of the European Brass Band Championship. Michael has engineered and mastered three CDs with the band and produced a series of online weekly concerts with members of the band throughout the period of lockdown in spring 2020.

The session is free for BBE members and £5 for non-members. Afterwards, attendees are welcome to stay on for the BBE ‘pub’, with hot or cold beverages encouraged.
