Brassband Willebroek to inspire next generation

Monday 19 October, 2020

Brassband Willebroek is well-known for its work in nurturing young performers on their path to musical success. Now the leading Belgian outfit is establishing a new course to inspire even more young people to enjoy their brass band music making.

Hot on the heels of its Willebroek solo competition, the band is now preparing to host a Brassband Willebroek Academy in 2021, with young performers encouraged to get involved.

The event will run from August 8-13 in the Bed Muzet culture hostel in Lier. Two bands will be formed to cater for different levels of experience. The junior group will be led by Eb bass player and conductor, Toon Rutten, while the more advanced players will work under the direction of Brassband Willebroek’s musical director, Frans Violet.

The course will include full rehearsals, lessons, workshops, concerts and recitals, as well as plenty of recreational activities to keep participants occupied.

Members of Brassband Willebroek will share their expertise with those involved and the event will culminate with a concert in Lier. Registration opens on December 15, 2020 here.
