Black Dyke cements Rath partnership

Saturday 1 August, 2020

It has supplied one of the world’s leading bands for 14 years – now Rath Trombones has extended its relationship with the trombone section of Black Dyke.

The manufacturer recently built new instruments for section principal Brett Baker and bass trombonist, Adam Reed. Now second trombone player Garry Reed is testing a new R6 tenor trombone.

Mick Rath, founder, commented: “Black Dyke is one of the most well-known and busiest brass bands in normal circumstances and I am delighted to continue to be associated with the band and the trombone section members, who have become friends as well as endorsees.”

News of the flourishing relationship comes as Black Dyke’s trombone quartet continues preparations for the time it can start rehearsing in an ensemble situation.

Adam Reed told British Bandsman: “I have really enjoyed playing in the new instrument. I am so disappointed I have not been able to try it out in a concert as yet. Rath Trombones makes an instrument specifically based on your needs as a player – that’s why it makes the best trombones in the world.”

More information on Rath Trombones is at its website.
