New trustees at UniBrass

Monday 13 January, 2020

The UniBrass Foundation has appointed three new trustees after advertising for the positions in October. Andy Baldacchino, Abi Groocock and Nigel Birch will bring a range of skills and experience to help the charity continue to support brass banding within universities.

Andy is a recent physics graduate from Durham University who now works for Bank of America in software engineering. As a cornet player at university, Andy was crucial in helping Durham compete at UniBrass while working behind the scenes as treasurer for the university brass band and the umbrella organisation, Music Durham.

Fellow Durham University graduate Abi is an active member of the banding community in the North East as well as working as a classical music marketing communications coordinator at Sage Gateshead.

She said: “I’m thrilled to working with UniBrass Foundation, an organisation that has done so much for the progression of banding within universities. This is a really exciting time for the charity, with plenty of new projects moving the organisation into 2020 and beyond."

Nigel will play a large part in the charity’s vision to strengthen bonds between university bands and bands within local communities.
