British Open to be live streamed

Monday 5 August, 2019

The British Open Brass Band Championships are delighted to announce that the 2019 Open to be held on 7 September will be live-streamed by World of Brass and 4barsrest.
For some time the organisers have received requests from the banding community both in Britain and abroad who have been unable to secure tickets for the contest, or cannot attend the ‘Open’ because of travel or other limitations, asking if it would be possible to stream the contest.

The World of Brass /4barsrest live stream of this year’s event will enable those who have been unable to secure a ticket for the Open, which for the past few years has sold out well before the event, to enjoy the contest atmosphere and performances of Peter Graham’s new work Dynasty by the world’s top bands from their own home. Dynasty is a collaboration with the Belgian National contest, VLAMO, which is taking place on 1 December.

Commenting on behalf of the British Open, a spokesperson said: "We believe that the quality of reporting, recording and streaming that World of Brass and 4barsrest can deliver aligns with the ethos that the Open and our sponsors Besson value. Streaming also provides the opportunity to reach a wider audience for the brass band movement that we are passionate about, retaining its traditions whilst at the same time looking to the future."

Information on accessing the live streaming will be published in the band press and on the British Open website shortly:
