Wednesday 24 July, 2019

Brighouse & Rastrick Band have announced that Lee Harrelson will be travelling from the USA to work with the band in residence as Visiting International Professor for the upcoming contest and concert season.

B&R will be working under the musical direction of the band’s Professional Conductor, Prof. David King and Lee will be working closely with Prof. King and the band. His period in the UK and residency with B&R will include rehearsals and concert performances, as well as supporting the band’s preparation for both the British Open and National Championships of Great Britain.

William Evans, B&R Band Secretary commented: "This is an exciting time for the band and new professional and musical developments are always welcomed. I am sure Lee will bring much experience and musical criticality as he has the opportunity to be integrally involved with the band during this festival period.”

Lee Harrelson is a Professor of Music at Missouri Western State University and is the founder, Artistic Director and Principal Euphonium of the Fountain City Brass Band. He is an international Besson artist and will bring a wealth of musical and performance knowledge to the UK and Brighouse during his visit.
