Stavanger set for UK visit

Friday 24 May, 2019

Stavanger Brass Band (SBB) is looking forward to visiting the UK at the end of the month. The band will be making the short trip across the North Sea, firstly stopping in Manchester where they will team up for a concert with the Fairey Band and Garry Cutt, as well as recently crowned European Youth Championship Development Section winners Wardle Academy Youth Band and Lee Rigg. Following this, SBB will travel to North Wales and join well known male voice choir Côr Y Penrhyn for a concert in the magnificent surroundings of Bangor Cathedral. The charity concert will raise funds for the Motor Neurone Association and St. David’s Hospice. The band and choir have previously worked together when Côr Y Penrhyn visited Stavanger in June 2018.

SBB’s Resident Conductor Adam Cooke said, “I’m delighted that audiences in the UK will get the opportunity to hear SBB in concert and for us to be part of what will be two very special evenings of music. We’re looking forward to joining our friends at Fairey's and to hearing the recently crowned European Youth Development Champions Wardle Academy Youth Band. It’s also great to once again be joining with Côr Y Penrhyn to raise funds for two very worthy causes.”

Stavanger Brass Band/Fairey Band/Wardle Academy Youth Band concert - Friday 31 May at 7.30pm at Wardle Academy, OL12 9RD. Tickets available on the door or by phoning 01706 373911 or emailing info@wardleacademy.co.uk.
