British Bandsman's New Editor

Monday 3 September, 2018

We are delighted to announce that the extremely talented Andrew Wainwright is to become the new Editor of The British Bandsman.

Andrew has a long pedigree in journalistic excellence, having been Editor of The SA Bandsman since 2011, as well as a fine CV in composition, conducting, playing and educating.

Commenting on the new appointment, IBB Media Ltd Managing Director, Martin Gernon is delighted.

"In Andrew, we have the perfect person to take the magazine forward as Editor. His life is steeped in music and his broad skill set meant he was not only the perfect candidate for us, but the only one! Andrew joins at an exciting time for the magazine, which will be returning to its roots as a weekly magazine from October onwards, but also embracing the technological changes we need to make in taking the magazine digital which will enable video and audio embedded content to be viewed for the first time ever in a brass band publication."

Andrew is equally thrilled with the challenge. " To be The Editor of the world's longest running and most respected brass band magazine is a huge responsibility, not only to its heritage and brand, but also to the requirement to take the magazine forward to new and wider audiences and build an international following for this most iconic of publications. I am looking forward to this challenge with relish and safeguarding the future direction of the magazine for hopefully many years to come."
