Black Dyke adds two new players to ranks

Monday 8 May, 2017

The Black Dyke band has announced the addition of two new players to its ranks with Tim Hammond joining on solo cornet and Dave McGlynn on Bb bass. The new signings follow the departure of Kathleen Gaspoz and Damian Wileman.

Welcoming the new additions to Black Dyke, Musical Director Professor Nicholas Childs commented: "Tim and Dave are both players of great quality and have proved to be committed bandsmen. These are qualities we admire at Black Dyke and I am really looking forward to working with both of them."

Dave McGlynn commented: "I have had five great years at Foden's and I leave with many fond memories. However, the opportunity to join Black Dyke was far too good to miss."

Tim Hammond, who vacates the Rothwell Temperence principal cornet chair, commented: "I have said farewell to great friends at Rothwell and wish them and my brother Jon, who takes over my seat as principal, all the very best. After touring Japan with Black Dyke last October and witnessing the sheer quality of the band, I had no hesitation in accepting the offer of a position and renew my relationship with my good friend Richard Marshall and Black Dyke Band."
