Dr. Martin Trust contest open for entries

Thursday 20 April, 2017

Entry is now open to the popular Dr. Martin Trust brass band contest which will be held at the Princess Alexander Auditorium, at Yarm School, Stockton-on-Tees on Sunday 10 September.

The event, with its rewarding prize fund of over £8,000, is open to Championship Section bands which must perform programmes containing a march, a featured soloist and a major test-piece selection.

The increasingly popular event, which takes place the day after the British Open, has podium prizes of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 while each band receives £400 towards travelling expenses. Last year, the Co-operative Funeralcare band from Glasgow made a successful detour to the contest, picking up the Wainstones Cup and £4,000 first prize on its way home from Symphony Hall, Birmingham.

Further details of the event, which has an entry fee of £250.00, are available from trustee Steve Goodwin at s.goodwin.55@hotmail.co.uk
