David Hamilton steps down from 'Imps' role

Friday 10 March, 2017

British Bandsman has learned that David Hamilton has resigned from his role as Musical Director (MD) of Yorkshire Imperial David Urquhart Travel Band.

David, who had guided Yorkshire Imps to success at the Bolsover Entertainment Contest last October, quickly followed by a fourth place at the Wychavon contest, cited irreconcilable differences regarding the forward planning of the band, commenting: “I'm sorry to be leaving Yorkshire Imps but over time it has become obvious that the band and I have conflicting ideas on how to move forward. I would like to wish them every success in the future.”

David’s immediate plan is to concentrate on conducting Lanner and District Silver Band at this weekend’s West of England Brass Band Championships in Torquay before taking a timeout to consider his options.

David continued: “Andrew Berryman will take over as MD at Lanner and District after the ‘Areas’ but I was delighted to answer the band’s call to conduct at Torquay. After the weekend, I will take some time before finding a new project.”
