Black Dyke to showcase Pageantry ahead of Yorkshire Championships

Friday 24 February, 2017

Black Dyke Band will continue its preparation ahead of its defence of the Championship Section title at the Yorkshire Area contest by presenting an open rehearsal on Friday 3 March at Morley Town Hall.

The event, which is free to enter, will see Dyke perform Herbert Howells' Pageantry ahead of the Area contest at Huddersfield Town Hall two days later. Dyke will be joined at the event by Horbury Victoria and Drighlington bands, both under the baton of Duncan Beckley, as they showcase their test-pieces in preparation for their contest performances.

Drighlington will play Philip Sparke's Land of the Long White Cloud as it hopes to improve on the 5th place it achieved in the 1st Section at last year's event. Rhapsody in Brass (Dean Goffin), the 2nd Section test-piece, will be performed by Horbury Victoria as it prepares to go one or two better than its 3rd place last year with The Mermaid of Zennor.

Admission is free and doors open at 7.15pm for a 7.45pm start. The venue address is Morley Town Hall, Queen Street, Morley, Leeds, LS27 9DY.
