Oxted rises from the ashes

Friday 24 February, 2017

Despite the arson attack on Oxted Band’s band hut last October, the band has not missed an engagement or a rehearsal. Re-building work is well under way and it should be back in its home by Easter. The band has also announced the latest in its Stars of Brass series, to be held on Saturday 6 May, at 7.30pm in St. John’s Church, Hurst Green (Surrey) RH8 9EA.

The concert will feature trumpet soloist Matilda Lloyd, winner of the Brass Category of the BBC Young Musician of the Year and also the BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Award in 2014. Matilda has performed as a soloist with the BBC Concert Orchestra on Friday Night is Music Night on Radio 2 and with Cory Band at the European Brass Band Championships Gala Concert in Perth. She briefly played with the Oxted Band on co-principal cornet on her journey to stardom!

Tickets priced £10.00 for adults (children £5.00) can be purchased from White’s Estate Agents in Oxted, or on the door.
