Win tickets to see Alison Balsom and friends

Thursday 23 February, 2017

One of Britain’s most beloved classical musicians, trumpet-player Alison Balsom, will return to the Royal Albert Hall at 3.00pm on Sunday 12 March for Alison Balsom and Friends. The diverse programme will include Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks, Edith Piaf’s La Vie en Rose and Dizzy Gillespie’s Tin Tin Deo

From performing extracts from Eben’s Okna (Windows), with world-class organist David Goodeon the Royal Albert Hall’s 9,999 pipe organ, to a world premiére performance of music for turntables and trumpet by Gabriel Prokofiev, this special one-off show will also see the three-time Classic Brit Award winner collaborate with fellow trumpeters - including big band favourite Guy Barker - and Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel.

Alison Balsom made her Royal Albert Hall debut in 1994 as a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and has since appeared here 16 times, enjoying her first headline show in October 2014. She has played a key role in the Hall’s extensive Education and Outreach programme and will again be sharing her knowledge and expertise with aspiring musicians through a series of innovative events as part of this show.

She commented: “The Royal Albert Hall is one of the most special places on earth and it’s a great pleasure to return to a stage that has given me so many great memories. This show will give me a chance to share some of my favourite pieces of music, accompanied by a host of amazing talents. I hope you can join us!”

Tickets for Alison Balsom and Friends, priced from £15.00 and upwards, are available from the Royal Albert Hall Box Office on 020 7589 8212 or www.royalalberthall.com/tickets/events/2017/alison-balsom-and-friends/

The winner will be chosen at random and informed on Monday 6 March from all the correct answers emailed to info@britishbandsman.com with ‘Alison Balsom’ in the subject header. Normal BB competition rules apply and the Editor’s decision is final.
