Redbridge Brass

Carnival- Dvorak/Geoffrey Brand

From the lowest section straight to the top with Richard Ward and Redbridge. Lively opening. Some scrappy playing and a little raucous in places. Great pulses from the bass end. A brave effort that I am sure will be beaten.

Star performance - Percussion

2. Friary Guildford

Benvenuto Cellini Berlioz/ Frank Wright

A bright and confident start, good flugel solo. More from solo horn , great playing and good sounding soprano. Great work from the principal cornet, overall a good performance.

Haverhill Silver (Paul Filby)

Carnival- Dvorak/Geoffrey Brand

Lively and exciting opening.Great plying from the soprano and the principal cornet, with good balanced support from the rest of the band. A Stirling performance from this band.

Star performance - Principal Cornet

4. GUS (Chris Jeans)

Carnival- Dvorak/Geoffrey Brand

Now the contest starts, bright and really confident start, good playing from principal cornet James Fountain. Chris Jeans controls the band in a really wonderful playing of this choice. A long way to go but this was easily the best so far.

 5.Woodfalls (Dr Robert Childs)

6. Woodfalls (Dr Robert Childs)

Carnival- Dvorak/Geoffrey Brand

Proving itself to be the popular choice amongst the bands, Woodfalls start proceedings well. Great work from the soprano and principal cornet, `overall an exciting performance very well directed by Dr. Childs.

Star performance - Soprano

6. Desford Colliery (LMTF) (Michael Fowles)

Carnival- Dvorak/Geoffrey Brand

Desford ensuring that the popular choice is Carnival. Bright and full opening. With Kevin Crockford on soprano and a few other familiar faces this is a vibrant performance ably directed by the great Michael Fowles. Truly great one to beat, with just one to go!

7. Flowers (Paul Holland)

One of only two

Benvenuto Cellini Berlioz/ Frank Wright

One of only two Benvenuto Cellini today and one of the best performances of this part of the contest. The last three bands all will be contenders, Good performances from the soloists.
