Born in the North West of England Trevor Halliwell started the cornet from the age of nine. He was spotted as a young talented player by members of the Wingates Band and subsequently joined the band on Flugel horn in 1971.
He was then offered a place in the famous Fodens Motor Works Band as assistant principal cornettist where he stayed for two years before being offered the principle position back at Wingates. A position that he held for ten years.
It was whilst at Wingates that he won the coveted Champion Soloist of Great Britain in 1979 and with it a trip to Australia to play in and around the New South Wales Area.
Studying harmony/composition he gained his Licentiateship and Fellowship of the Trinity College of Music in London in 1978 and 1979 respectively. It was whilst studying that he started conducting and the teaching of music.
He has a vast amount of experiece as both conductor and adjudicator North West of England.
Trevor is a member of the National Association of Brass Band Conductors(NABBC) and Adjudicators (ABBA).
He continues to teach, conduct, play and adjudicate on a freelance basis.
