Mead to star in live webcast
April 19 2009
Euphonium virtuoso, Steven Mead, who is on a visit to the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) in the USA and Mississauga in Canada, will be appearing live on the Internet on Tuesday evening (21st).
After many months of planning, Steve is visiting UNI in a three-day project masterminded by Professor of Tuba, Jeff Funderburk. He will be at UNI from late afternoon on Sunday 19 April, departing on the Wednesday evening (22nd), to Toronto, with a busy five-day schedule organised and by the Mississauga Temple Band of the Salvation Army.
It is sure to be an action-packed week, with the main focus of the UNI visit being a full recital on Tuesday, which will also be broadcast live as a web cast! Speaking to BB, Steven MEad said: "The concert can be viewed live on http://mm1.uni.edu:8080/1/mp3/som/unituba/live-unituba.ram and it begins at 8.00pm Central time, which is, unfortunately 2.00am in the UK and 3.00am in the rest of Europe. Sorry about that!"
The programme for this recital is very demanding and should make for very interesting viewing and listening:
1. Concerto for Euphonium (Horovitz)
2. Ritter George Sextet with Northwind Quintet
3. Hungarian melodies (V.Bach)
4. Sometimes I feel like a motherless child (Arr. Hunsberger)
5. Beautiful Colorado (De Luca)
6. Introduction Theme and Variations (Rossini)
7. Pearls with CD accompaniment
8. Londonderry Air with UNITUBA
Steve will also be working with students, and the UNITUBA ensemble.
